Some of my favorite things

I don’t’ have any pictures of the tree yet, but I did want to blog about this gift I received from my mom for my shower last year. According to German tradition there are 12 ornaments that every newlywed should have on their Christmas tree to insure happiness for their lives together. These twelve ornaments are:
An Angel - God's Guidance in the Home
A House - Shelter and Protectionn
A Rabbit - Hope and Faith
A Teapot - Hospitality
A Bird - Happiness and Joy
A Rose - Beauty and Affectio
A Fruit Basket - Generosity
A Pine Cone - Motherhood and Fruitfulness
A Fish - Christ's Blessing
A Santa - Unselfishness and Goodwill
A Flower Basket - Good Wishes
A Heart - True Love

What made this the best gift I received that day was the fact that some of the ornaments were taken from the ornaments that my family put up every year. Others were purchased and others made, all were put into a beautiful box for us with the meaning so we never forget.





I have a feeling that these will be my favorite ornaments for many years to come.
