Tequila Sunrise

Back before my wedding, which I still do not have any pictures that I can get onto the computer yet, I decided to try my hand at dyeing some sock yarn from Knit Picks. So I soaked the yarn with a little soap in the sink while I prepaired the dye.

I mixed two packets of cherry for red, two packets of pina-pineapple orange and two packet of lemonade and some of the packet of orange for yellow in mason jars from AC Moore.

Then I placed the jars in a large pot, filled it with water and put the yarn that I sectioned off before soaking into the mason jars. I began to heat the pot up until a near boil and shut off the heat. The liquid in the jars was clear which means that the yarn soaked up all the dye. I placed the cover of the pot over the yarn and let it set for about 1-2 hours.
When the water was cool I took out the yarn and gave it a rinse in the sink to make sure that all the dye set.

I hung it up to dry and then wound it up. I wanted the color to look like one of my favorite drinks a tequila sunrise and I think that it does in a way. However blogger is being a pain and will not let me post the picture of the final product, I'll try again later.

Wanted:

who did this:

Since the new Sock Club shipment arrived and I have been itching to start it I thought I might finish the other two socks I have in my WIP pile. So the other night I picked up my Cedar Creek socks and found the end of my size 1 needle chewed off. There are two suspects however one of them has shown an interest in my bamboo needles before so I have reason to believe that this innocent face is not so innocent:

This incident is painful since all I have left is to knit the toe.

Scott's cousin is getting married at the end of September and I wanted to knit something to wear; I have been eyeing this shawl since I saw Eunny knit it for the Olymipcs and have finally decided to dive in.

I am knitting Frost Flowers and Leaves Shawl with Knit Picks Shadow in Jewels. The darker photo is more of the actual color of the yarn, however it is very hard for me to photograph the true color of this yarn. All I can say is that it is beautiful. After about a week of knitting I have finished chart two for the first time. So far this project is knitting up pretty quickly but the spreadsheet I have from the FF&L KAL group indicates that I have only 15% completed.

How much are those kitties in the window?

Well these little buggers have been keeping me busy.

This is Nemo, she is about 4 months old.

This is Stitch who is just over 3 months old.

They get along very well, which is a relief. However they play rough; but we love them! They came into our home just days after we returned from our honeymoon.

School has ended for me this semester, for the most part so blogging will become a tad bit more regular. I learned how to upload the pictures I take on the camera onto the computer so now I will post pictures of some of my finished items and WIPS. There are a few exciting things that I'm working on, at least exciting for me that is.
